Anastasia the Great is an internationally renowned artist, born in Russia on April the 15th - the same birth date as Leonardo Da Vinci. She was raised and educated in an Orthodox Monastery where she mastered the Byzantine iconography techniques as well as Greek lost wax bronze casting and marble sculpting techniques.

In 1989 Anastasia decided to leave her country because of the USSR’s repressive regime and she landed in Italy on her birthday. It’s was her Destiny, to arrive to Rome and fall in love with the Eternal City.  Shortly there after she was working for the Vatican as a restorer of antiquities, painting beautiful icons for Catholic churches under John Paul II, decorating and designing  interiors of numerous hotels and restaurants, creating many glamorous portraits and artwork masterpieces for Celebrities like TV Canale 5 Director and World Expo Director Prof. Davide Rampello as well as Nobles like the Leopardi family ( Museum of Leopardi in Recanati Italy), and Royalty like the King Hussein of Jordan just to name a few.

In the 1990’s she also continued expanding her horizons by opening Art Studio’s in NY, LA, Miami and Fort Lauderdale receiving numerous artwork and portrait commissions from many Celebrities including, Sylvester Stallone, Dr. Sanford and Dolores Ziff, Claudine Smurfit, Ambassador Carlo Amato as well as many other notable figures.

Her paintings, sculptures, and design work has been commissioned by many architects, companies and institutions including Celebrity Cruises, Warren Henry Jaguar, Johnson and Wales University, United States Sommelier association , Ellas VIP Women’s Club, as well as the Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adriane Arsht Center.

As a Philanthropist she has donated both her art and time, making incredible Live-Painting performances(something she is uniquely know for) on stage for major charities like Make-a-Wish Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Cancer Association, Unicorn Foundation and many others. Numerous of her Live-Painting performances have taken place at such landmark venues as Mar-a-Lago, King George Palace, the Waldorf Astoria, the Mayfair Hotel, Biltmore Hotel and the Versace Mansion just to name a few.

Anastasia’s own New Renaissance style is like no other in the world of art. As an artist she’s multi-talented, polymorphous, versatile, with unlimited dexterities and unstoppable imagination. She describes her art as: “A Symphony of colors, lines and forms illuminated by the splendor of gold and diamonds”.  Her “sui generis” personality combines absolute seriousness, dedication to creation and discipline, with an extravagant - theatrical -  flamboyance and somehow, she manages to copulate and amalgamate these contradicting elements.

The artist’s philosophy in her own words is: “My life is one of hard work to create works with such a powerful, timeless, beauty they can declare the eternal fight against the Wars, Ignorance and Injustice because throughout my art, I’d like to bring to the World: Hope, Love and Peace, embracing my audience with a an invisible veil that protects them from the shadows of evil, the same way Madonna it protecting there Holy Infant”.

In short, Anastasia the Great’s timeless Art is a force of nature, as the ancient Romans would say - “Vita Brevis Est - Ars Immortalis” witch  translates to “Life is Short but Art is Immortal”

ART REVIEW BY DAVIDE RAMPELLO
